Churrascaria: A Cutthroat Game of Gluttony Relaunch

Created by Absurdist Productions

Churrascaria is based on the experience of eating at a Brazilian-style steakhouse where waiters bring unlimited skewers of delicious meat directly to your table. Players are trying to eat all the succulent meats that appear on their plates while avoiding the equally delicious but ultimately unsatisfying sides and desserts that get in the way. All the while, food theft, plate swapping, and general backstabbing keep the food flying and the steaks high. In the end, the person who consumes the most meat wins!

The last 48, and a little surprise!
about 6 years ago – Tue, May 01, 2018 at 03:01:24 PM

We have entered the final 48 hours of the campaign ladies and gentlemen. Its been an emotional rollercoaster for us here at Absurdist HQ, and this is that last final big climb before we rocket down the track to the finish line. I slept about four hours last night, and I expect that’s about how much I’ll get for the next two nights as I keep clicking refresh to watch the campaign.

As a result of that insomnia, or maybe its just all the excitement you all have shown, we decided what the hey, let's unlock the Player Mat Add-on stretch goal a little early. That’s right folks, you can now get you some premium neoprene player mats to go with our crazy little game. For those who have chosen the single copy Buffet level, we've created two new reward tiers so you can simply upgrade your pledge and reward to add 4 or 6 player mats with a small discount. Unfortunately, no matter how we crunched the numbers we just couldn't make that work for our Feast backers, as you guys are already getting a pretty decent discount on your second copy of the game. These numbers already included the additional shipping cost for international backers as well, so you'll still only be charged the single copy rate as listed in the shipping section of the campaign.

Fear not, you can add as many player mats as you like to your reward by adding $6 per mat to your pledge, and then just like adding on additional copies of the game, you'll be able to add those items in BackerKit once the campaign is over. We've added a section to the campaign to show the add-on prices as well, that should help a little with the math.

I realize that might seem a little pricey, but that's why we made these an add-on.They are going to look amazing, but they are not cheap to produce. That being said, they do make playing the game even more fun.

You have all been amazing, thank you for all the support. Now, let's buckle up for the wild ride that is the last two days of the campaign.

Cook Books for everyone, now lets get some Playmats
about 6 years ago – Mon, Apr 30, 2018 at 07:50:27 PM

Little late with this update, but was a crazy weekend between International Table Top day on Saturday and then the monthly Game Developer Day at our favorite local game shop on Sunday. But, sometime in there, we unlocked the cookbook stretch goal. Which means I need to get finished turning all that research and eating I did into a high-quality collection of recipes for you.

Along with that bit of news, we are also not well on our way to the next stretch goals, which when unlocked will allow you to add some excellent neoprene playmats to go along with your copy of Churrascaria. These playmats will have an added cost, it's just too expensive to make them otherwise, but they the early designs we've gotten back from Ellie look great, and I'm excited to see this unlock so that I can order a set of six for myself. You can see an early draft below.

As a final bit of news, we have revealed our final stretch goal at the $10,500 mark. This would add a six card mini-expansion to the game. I know there is a bigger gap between the Playmat and the Chipboard Tokens, but I think we can pull it off in these last few days. And then its just a short jump to that last goal.

It's going to be an exciting final three days, remember the campaign ends Thursday morning. Let's finish this thing off with a bang.

Linen Finish Everywhere!
about 6 years ago – Wed, Apr 25, 2018 at 09:52:44 AM

We acted like a yo-yo for a bit yesterday, which was a little stressful, but we can now officially call stretch goal 3 unlocked. So every copy of Churrascaria will now have cards with a really nice linen finish on them. This makes them a little easier to shuffle, and also helps cut the glare so the amazing art by Ellie Jang can really stand out. Along with the black-core card stock unlocked at stretch goal 1, this means the cards are going to be really high quality to go with all that amazing art.

This also moved us one step closer to unlocking not only the neoprene game mats we have planned as stretch goal 5, but also my personal favorite, the cookbook we have next at stretch goal 4. Now, this won't just be recipes, I've spent a lot of time doing research for this game so the book will try to give tips on finding some of the harder to find ingredients and tips on cooking them in the home kitchen that I learned as I attempted to replicate the deliciousness of the restaurants.

We still have 9 days left, and according to Kicktraq we are trending towards a $10,000 finish. Which if you hadn't noticed also happens to be the level for stretch goal 6, which would turn the food request cards into some nice thick tokens. I know that might seem a far off goal, but I think we can pull it off. Until next time ladies and gents.

Two stretch goals down, many more to go!
about 6 years ago – Sat, Apr 21, 2018 at 11:38:17 PM

We pushed past stretch goal number 2 yesterday afternoon, and are now well on our way toward stretch goal 3. Which would upgrade the cards in the game a second to have a classy linen finish that really makes the food art pop. And as a second little treat for unlocking that second stretch goal, we have revealed another mid goal. If we hit $8,500, everyone will get a pdf of a cookbook I am putting together with recipes to make every dish presented in the game. And while they may be worth negative points in your stomach pile, I promise you will want to eat all of the desserts in real life.

As an aside, we sent a message out to all of our Immortalized backers on the 12th requesting pictures so that we can get them to the wonderful Ellie to get a start on turning all you excellent people into card art. So if you are an immortalized backer and haven't see the message please check your spam folder, or it should also be in your inbox on Kickstarter. The sooner we get those pictures the sooner she can get the art done, which will help us reduce delays in getting everything to the printers for manufacturing once the campaign ends.

We have 12 days left on the campaign ladies and gents, which is plenty of time to unlock some more stretch goals. Once again we want to thank you all for your support of our crazy little game, and I promise you we are just as excited as you to see these goals unlock and to get the final published game in our hands.

Until next time, keep on gaming, I know we will.

First Stretch Goal unlocked!
about 6 years ago – Tue, Apr 17, 2018 at 10:24:41 PM

In case you missed it ladies and gents, we have unlocked our first stretch goal. Meaning that every copy of Churrascaria will not be upgraded to some slick casino quality black core cardstock. To celebrate this little milestone, we also decided to drop in another stretch goal, this one at $7,500. If we hit that one we will upgrade the boxes for all copies of the game to a linen finish that really makes the art pop and gives the game some extra class on the shelf.

We've already unveiled a few of the stretch goals past that, but not all of them. So let's unlock some more goals so we can reveal a few more to you. We are at the halfway point, so I know we can do it.
